Residential Permit Parking Updates:

The City of Detroit’s Municipal Parking Department (MPD) is announcing changes to parking enforcement that will begin starting in January 2024.

First, enforcement within four recently established Residential Parking Zones will begin one at a time beginning January 2 into February. Once enforcement begins in each zone, it will take place on a seven-days-per-week basis.

Also, Sunday enforcement of parking safety violations – including blocking fire hydrants, alleys or driveways. Previously these violations were only enforced Monday through Saturday.  Metered street parking, however, will not be enforced on Sundays, when it will remain free.

Residential Parking Zones

The new residential parking zones and the dates enforcement will begin in each is as follows:

  • Southern Brush Park zone enforcement in effect.

  • Central Brush Park zone enforcement will begin February 2024.

  • North Brush Park zone (residential permit parking approval postponed and awaiting further updates from the Municipal Parking Department).

Brush Park Historic District

Advocates for our Neighborhood

Brush Park is a Historic Neighborhood located in Detroit, Michigan. Our broader neighborhood boundaries are Mack Ave. (North), I-75 (East), I-75 (South) and Woodward Ave. (West).

Our organization began as the Brush Park Citizen's District Council, an City mandated elected group of Brush Park residents who provided advisory input on urban renewal projects within Brush Park.  In 2014, the City of Detroit Emergency Manager passed an order eliminating the Citizen's District Councils. With encouragement from City officials, developers and the community, the Brush Park Citizen's District Council board members re-organized as the Brush Park Community Development Corporation (the "CDC"), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

We are an advisory organization established to provide citizen participation in planning and development issues for the neighborhood of Brush Park and promote the continual development of the neighborhood. More information on how we interact with the community and with City officials can be found at our Guidelines for Developers

What We Do

DEVELOPMENT FEEDBACK

We provide an avenue for resident feedback on the development of vacant parcels and redevelopment of dilapidated property in the Neighborhood to further collaborative efforts with developers to transform our Neighborhood. Connecting with city government

We provide feedback and recommendations to the City of Detroit concerning the developments of property in the Neighborhood. We inform the City on issues that affect Brush Park and advocate for policies that protect our community. In addition to development projects, the CDC is currently working with the City on the Form Based Code and On-Street Parking Issues

Historic preservation

We are committed to highlighting and honoring the historic roots of Brush Park. We are currently working with the City of Detroit Historic District Commission to discuss historic preservation initiatives for our Neighborhood.

connecting neighbors

We host events to help our neighbors connect with each other, such as our Annual Holiday Party and Summer Gathering. We organize neighborhood beautification days and other initiatives to make Brush Park a great place to live.
